WhatsApp will “settle” in the iPad 10 years later

The developers of the popular messenger WhatsApp announced an ongoing project to create a separate application for the iPad. It is clarified that this will not be an adaptive mobile version for tablets, but a full-fledged application that supports all the features of the graphical interface of Apple tablets.

Note that WhatsApp is almost 10 years old, and the messenger team is only now puzzled by this issue. While such popular services as Facebook Messenger, Telegram, and Viber have long been presented not only for the iPhone, but also for the tablets of the former corporation of Steve Jobs.

According to experts, such delays in the release of the iPad version may be the difficulty of adapting the iOS version of the messenger to the features of the graphical interface of various versions of Apple tablets.

Currently, only the iOS version of WhatsApp for iPhone is available in the App Store. At the same time, earlier the developers of the messenger presented to the beta testers a semi-compatible version of WhatsApp Web with a web interface, which requires an additional permanent iPhone connection to the Internet for identification. In the future, the developers promise to modify WhatsApp Web to make it possible to use the application on the iPad and iPhone with the same phone number.

And now, after 10 years in the OTT services market, the WhatsApp team still made the final decision to release a separate full-fledged application for the iPad. It is noted that the application will be compatible with all versions of the iPad.

From screenshots of beta testers, it became known that WhatsApp on iPad so far requires registration for a new phone number. It is also noted that the service on the tablet supports the entire set of functions of the main application and has the features of the user graphical interface of the iPad.

The chat window supports split browsing.
The application has full support for tablet and portrait screen orientation modes.
The new graphical interface allows you to exchange messages and simultaneously view the correspondence with other contacts.
Call screen provides direct access to view complete information about incoming and outgoing calls.
In the settings section (WhatsApp Settings), a convenient full-fledged navigation using a split screen is already available.
WhatsApp for iPad supports the same functionality as the main iPhone app, including voice calls and Touch ID technology.

It is not known when WhatsApp for iPad will be released from the beta version, as well as the timing of the appearance of the WhatsApp Business version has not been announced.
